Everything you need to know about aging in reverse

Aging is a natural part of life, and while we can't stop the clock, modern medical aesthetics offers innovative ways to age in reverse. From non-invasive treatments to advanced surgical procedures, we are at the forefront of helping individuals look and feel more youthful. In this blog, we will explore the various techniques and treatments that can help you turn back the hands of time.

  • Skincare is key:

The foundation of reversing the aging process begins with skincare. A good quality skincare routine can work wonders in maintaining a youthful appearance. We recommend using PCA skin with active ingredients such as retinoids, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants. These ingredients help to stimulate collagen production, hydrate the skin, and protect against environmental damage.

  • Botox and Fillers:

Botox is a neuromodulator, which means it temporarily paralyzes or relaxes specific facial muscles. It is primarily used to target dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles that appear when you make facial expressions, such as frown lines and crow's feet. By injecting Botox into these muscles, we can effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive movements. The results are not immediate, typically taking a few days to a week to become noticeable, and they can last for several months.

Dermal fillers are used to add volume to specific areas that have lost their youthful fullness due to age related collagen and fat loss. These fillers are made from various substances, such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite, and come in various consistencies to address different concerns. They can be used to plump areas such as the cheeks, lips and under eye hollows, as well as soften static wrinkles (wrinkles that are present even when your face is at rest). The results are usually immediate and can last from several months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used.

Both dermal fillers and Botox are minimally invasive procedures that require little to no downtime, making them a popular choice for individuals seeking subtle and natural looking rejuvenation. Consulting with a medical professional is helpful to determine the best route for you.

  • Chemical peels:

Chemical peels are an effective way to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and fade age spots. The peel works by breaking down the bonds between the old, damaged skin cells on the skin's surface removing the top layer of damaged skin revealing fresh, rejuvenated skin underneath. With the variety of options we have, the solution used is determined by the patient's skin type, concerns and the depth of peeling required.

There are three main types of chemical peels:

Superficial peels: These use mild acids, such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHA), to exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin. They are used to improve skin texture, tone and mild discoloration.

Medium depth peels: These peels typically use trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and penetrate deeper into the skin. They can address more pronounced skin imperfections, like moderate wrinkles, age spots, hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.

Deep peels: Deep peels are the highest concentration of TCA, Phenol or retinol peels. They are effective in treating severe wrinkles, scars, and deep pigmentation.

After the chemical peel, the treated skin will appear red and may peel or flake over the next few days to a week, depending on the depth of the peel. This process is the skins natural way of shedding the damaged outer layer and revealing fresher, smoother, and more evenly tones skin beneath. The patient will be advised to take home and use a post care kit to take care of their skin as it heals over the next week.

  • Laser treatments:

Laser technology has revolutionized our world today. Laser treatments address a wide range of concerns, from sunspots and uneven pigmentation to wrinkles and sagging skin. Fractional laser resurfacing, in particular, stimulates collagen production and improves skin texture.

  • Ultherapy:

Ultherapy is a non-invasive, FDA approved procedure that uses ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin. The treatment is commonly used on the face, neck, and chest and is an excellent option for those who want to avoid surgery.

  • PDO Threads:

A non- surgical facelift alternative. Thread lifts offer a minimally invasive solution for those seeking facial rejuvenation and tightening without a face lift. This procedure involves the use of temporary, absorbable sutures to subtly lift and tighten sagging skin, primarily in the face and neck area. Most commonly they are placed to lift various parts of the face and neck, including brows, cheeks, jowls, and the neckline. The threads used in the procedure are made from biocompatible material known as polydioxanone (PDO) and is safely absorbed by the body over time. This procedure usually takes between 30 minutes to an hour and is typically performed under local anesthesia. The doctor makes small incisions in the desired area and inserts the threads under the skin. Once the threads are in place they are then pulled to achieve the lift. Additionally, the insertion of threads stimulates collagen production, which improves the skin texture and firmness. PDO threads have minimal downtime and immediate results with most people able to resume normal activities within a few days. After a thread lift, patients may experience mild swelling and bruising. The results can be anywhere from 1-3 years, depending on the individuals skin condition and aging process. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and skincare regime can help prolong the effects.

  • PRP therapy:

Enhance skin rejuvenation and stimulate collagen production. PRP therapy, also known as platelet rich plasma therapy, involves drawing a small amount of the patients blood, which is then processed to isolate the platelet rich plasma. The PRP contains growth factors that play a vital role in tissue repair and regeneration. When applied topically or injected into the skin, PRP encourages the body's natural healing mechanisms, leading to collagen and elastin production, improved skin texture, and a more youthful appearance. PRP can be a stand alone treatment but most commonly paired with micro needling.

  • Micro-needling:

Micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a procedure that uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the skins natural healing response, prompting the production of collagen and elastin. Micro-needling can improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and fade scars and pigmentation issues. When used in combination, Micro-needling creates micro-channels in the skin, making it easier for PRP to penetrate deeply and deliver its growth factors to the targeted areas. Stimulate regeneration: Accelerate the skins regenerative process, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful skin. Improved tone and texture: Together they can address a wide range of concerns, including fine lines, acne scarring and even hair loss.

  • Non-Invasive body contouring: Sculpsure:

Sculpsure heat treatments are a proven, safe and effective way to permanently eliminate fat cells with no downtime or surgery required. The device is a non-invasive laser body contouring system, intended to permanently eliminate fat cells through non-invasive lipolysis of the abdomen, love handles (Flanks), back, inner and outer thighs, and under the chin (submental). The laser treats stubborn body fat and provides a natural looking contour in just 25 minutes. Results are seen as early as 6 weeks following treatment as the body begins to eliminate the destroyed fat cells, with optimal results usually seen at 12 weeks. Individual results may vary and are not guaranteed. For best results a series of consistent treatments is best for most patients until you have reached desired outcome. Sculpsure treatments are not intended for weight loss results or for people who are obese. During the treatment most patients feel deep warmth and tingling sensations intermittently throughout the treatment , which is generally well tolerated. There is no downtime involved, which allows you to resume your daily activities immediately. Mild side effects may occur, including temporary tenderness, swelling, or tissue firmness in the treatment area.

  • Smart-Liposuction:

A modern marvel, offering a minimally invasive solution for those looking to refine their silhouette. Unlike traditional liposuction smart liposuction utilizes laser technology to effectively and safely reduce unwanted fat. This laser is then used to liquefy the fat cells in specific areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or arms. This allows for a less aggressive removal process opposed to traditional liposuction. The laser also promotes collagen production, which can lead to tighter, smoother skin post-procedure. This procedure works best for those relatively close to there ideal body weight but struggling with stubborn pockets of fat that seem immune to diet and exercise. The journey to a sculpted body begins with a comprehensive consultation to review your medical history and current medications. During the treatment, local anesthesia is applied and small incision is made to insert the laser fiber. The lasers heat liquefies the fat and is then gently suctioned out. This method is generally faster and safer than traditional liposuction. The results can be seen after the swelling subsides, with continued improvement over several months. The procedure not only removes fat but tightens the skin for a more toned appearance. The outcome can be long lasting, provided you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

If any of these sound like the right option for you, we encourage you to schedule a consultation to explore your options and embark on the journey to a more confident you!
